Oh man good news comes down the river. The Black Angels, a band who we’ve covered with great admiration here on bluegrassish has announced a new album entitled Phosphene Dream. And here my friends is the single off that highly anticipated LP. A truely classic sounding song finds The Black Angels stepping back a bit from their earlier psychedlic musings. If this is any sign of what the new album will sound like…colour me excited.

spitting it concrete like the golden sun god WU LYF from LYF on Vimeo.
defiantly a favorite of mine, with little to no knowledge about the band. They have managed to keep almost everything about them a secret (they’re from the UK and have released 50 copies of a porcelain 7″). I Got Dem Wu Wu Busted Teef Spitting It Concrete Like The Golden Sun God (wow) takes up where the last couple songs I heard left off, with a style unto their own..”heavy pop”. The video about has some scary imagery but don’t turn away too soon, it’s well worth it. If you’r like me and cant get enough of this soulful indie goodness check them out on their very… interesting website here. For now I’ll just watch this video on repeat and try not to cringe.

Aaron chapman, John bowers, James mitchell are from Portland and make up the band Nurses. Their music makes me happy that I have ears.

Very, very exciting stuff coming from Chicago. Information is thin and far between, but for now we have three absolutely fantastic tracks to enjoy. I highly doubt this will be the last we hear about them.
Sunsquints – Machu Picchu
Sunsquints – Basque
Sunsquints – Dakar Doldrums
A great local band that was around a couple of years ago. I just rediscovered it while perusing my itunes library. I don’t really know what’s going on with them lately, but here’s a couple of songs that are a little bit old and a lot bit synth-tastic.
Where did you guys go anyway? Are you still a band?

Unreal sample based R n’ B. It’s friday so I can’t type too much, but this needs to be heard. Download the entire album for free here.

covered this a while back, and now it’s finally out. blissed out spanish classics as interpreted by El Guincho. As a prude west coaster this would seem to sum up an ethnic styling pretty well. Mariachi band buys a lap top, smokes weed, chills out and everyones happy. A wonderful little romp through Spain’s sandy beaches complete with backing female accompaniment and the perfect amount of that mexi-vibe to make you feel like you’ve transported yourself to another continent without leaving the comfort of your headphones.
