Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Maniac

Friday, July 29th, 2011

Yes! I missed these guys so much. Kind of new-wavey, but in a really good way. Seems like a perfect candidate for dancing around the house on a Sunday afternoon.

Gauntlet Hair

A new chilled-out noisey pop number from a couple boys out of Denver, my favourite so far!

Davila 666:

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

We love garage rock. The list of bands that make up this genre is HUGE and varied, from 90′s OG’s The Mummies to The Black Lips and Thee Oh See’s… Well Mexico has offered us up a latin flair of this catchy genre. Davila 666 are a lo-fi spicy taco. A triple lime margarita. If you dont catch yourself trying to sing along in broken spanish, well partner this shit aint for you..

Kimya Dawson & Aesop Rock

Friday, May 27th, 2011

Wanna hear Aesop Rock rap over a couple acoustic jams? You got it. Probably the strangest pairing I have seen so far on Daytrotter, but I seriously can’t turn it off. It will take a listen or two, but I promise it will grow on you.

DEATH GRIPS:

Friday, May 27th, 2011

I wont go off here on the obvious parallels betweens Death Grips and OFWGKTA, I’ve spent more time discussing the Odd Future crew than I have listening to their “new” brand of “shock” rap (does no one remember Necro or ICP?) Anyways, I haven’t been able to get down on Tyler the Creator or any of his crew but thank god along comes Death Grips. An auditory and visual mind fuck. Vicious throat yell rap with ADD glitched out beats, wow. Charles Manson samples and wait what…Zach Hill makes the beats, how could this get any better. Keep in mind this is SCARY music… Guillotine off of the free mix tape Ex-Military literally scared my girlfriend into jumping off the bed. So make sure you snag the free tracks here.

WU LYF – DIRT & LYF

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

In our quest to keep abreast of all things WU LYF, I stumbled on a couple new tracks from their YouTube channel. DIRT is probably my favourite since HEAVY POP, the videos are pretty fantastic too.

Brazilian Moneyz:

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

These guys fucking killed it at the Goody BBQ last year. The anniversary of that is coming up, and no they wont be playing BUT Brazillian Money does have a new album out, which is fuckkking dope. You can buy this little Edmonton gem on tape cassette here. Folk freak outs with goofy antics. truly a treat to listen to.
