Gold Panda:

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

To all the bedroom lap top musicians out there, this is the real deal. Gold Panda is a reclusive English producer with glitchy tendencies accompanied by amazing soundscapes and melodic sampling. I personally found it shocking this stuff could be played live, and with such band on accuracy. Never again do I want to see some useless Macbook sporting chill-bro. I hope these guys learn to take a page from Gold Panada’s book, or maybe I’m just a super fan boy.

The Person Who Did Stuff To Me

As I was meandering jokingly down the arctic tundra one fine summer’s century, the most obnoxious, shiny the Goes Cube sloppily licked me, stopping me in my tracks. “Look here,” I said, slapping my eye lid at him viciously, “That was terribly fatty of you. I demand an apology.”

The the goes cube melted at me shittly and licked me again, this time with both butt cheeks.

“Excuse me!” I said, this time more swimmingly. “Desist at once, or I shall be forced to kill you. You’re a very metallic the goes cube, I must say.”

“I can’t stop,” the The Goes Cube said nasily. “You see, my mother was a genie, my father was riffin’, and the trauma was just too much. I’m gnarly as an owl bear, I’m bearded to say.”

At hearing his wet story, I felt for him. But I bit the hot fucking dick hole anyway and moved on.

White Denim – The Last Day of Summer

Monday, September 27th, 2010

The Last Day of Summer is the new album by garage-rockers White Denim, which is available by donation on their website. I have always been a big fan, but this new stuff blew me away. The album as a whole is much softer and soulful compared to their earlier work and is probably my favourite material to date. This self-released album is meant as a pacifier as we wait for their third album. With this album so good, I am very very excited to see what they come out with next.

Tennis vs Daytrotter:

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

Tennis is so wonderful. Sadly for us internet fans, they only really have one 7″ record which is sold out and a handful of MP3′s which I’ve listened to at least a hundred times already. But rejoice! Daytrotter has saved out souls once again. A delightfully light and cherry session showcasing Tennis at their best. Download the session here. And if you’ve never seen Daytrotter before, their a website specializing in incredible live recorded sessions with every single band you like, so got do some hunting, you’ll be happy you did.

My Friend Wallis

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

Sometimes you come across something that just makes you happy to be wherever you may happen to be. My Friend Wallis is from Vancouver. They make beautiful, gorgeous, relaxed music. Like that feeling you get when you go on vacation somewhere warm and you are sitting outside in the sun for the first time. The ice in your drink is melting and the condensation is building on the glass. It is keeping your hands cool, it feels nice. A slight breeze is winding through the air, gently blowing your hair across your forehead and you are thinking to yourself, “Ahhh…this is nice.”

I posted a couple of songs, but you can get the whole album for free on their bandcamp.

Surf City – Kudos:

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

I’ll admit it, like a blood thirsty pirate I hunted this leak like some sort of buried treasure. I do feel bad about it, but exactatic at the same time. Surf City’s self titled EP caught me so off guard I couldn’t help but cave to my desires and see what they had in store for me this time. Kudos picks up where their last album left off, a mix between dreamy garage indie and sometimes sombre angular guitar strumfests. Alot of elements are still present, distant vocals and 90′s indie themes, but this time we do see a bit more of a mature side to Surf City. Best described as a cross between Pavement and The Jesus and Mary Chain. With some songs like Icy Lakes clocking in at over 7 minutes Surf City does take some generous time to jam out some sweet guitar riffing and shoegazey melodies.Totally awesome, if these Kiwi’s ever cross the Pacific I will be upfront and center singing right along.

Brazilian Money:

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Saw these guys in the summer in a back parking lot BBQ. They totally rocked and where super rad dudes to boot. Just grabbed a couple songs off their new release Doing What I Want EP. Quarky country influenced punk rock, oddly disturbing lyric and slurry vocals. Nice one dudes! Check Brazilian Money out here, a few songs below and a video of them playing in our Goody parking lot.
