The Mantles:

The Mantels is kind of like when you finally got the courage to crawl down into the dusty, dark and spider infest crawl space of your parents house to pull out a giant box of dusty old records your dad filed away in shame after a wild youth he’d rather hide and repress.
You say to your dad “What is this flower child music? Who are these long haired bearded men and women tickling dirty guitars and singing through tin cans? Did you walk like this? Talk like this? Was your now balding head once free flowing filthy blonde locks?” A single tear rolls down your fathers face and without another word he stumbles into the other room only to return with a joint and a fifth of Jack. You both sit down, throw on The Mantels record and at that moment and for the first time since you can remember, you feel that your on the same wave as your old man. A perfectly reasonable scenario, except The Mantels self titled album was only released this year and they’re probably the same age as you are, not graying and fattening like our elders. This album would not be out of place mixed in between the sleeves of early 60′s garage rock and psychedelic, but it’s new, it’s fresh and it’s so so exciting…Who knew!?
