A Virtual Thriller
With all the Michael Jackson nostalgia circulating through the media and social landscapes these days, I thought that I would ad my own little tidbit. This is the real deal. In 1989/90 U.S. Gold and Sega released the Michael Jackson video game, “Moonwalker”, to coincide with the release of his movie by the same name. I remember playing this game at Chucky Cheese when I was a kid and as I recall it was quite a fun game. At the time it was just awesome, now it seems a bit creepy and weird, and a little more awesome.
You play as Michael, on a mission to save the captured children from the evil Mr. Big. To save them you must battle though wave upon wave of Mr. Big’s henchmen. But fret not, you have ways to defend yourself: an inexplicable magic power that shoots from your hands to vanquish your foes and a magical “Dance” button that your enemies won’t be able to resist (attempting your complicated, yet elegant, dance routine will probably make them all explode!). And if all that isn’t enough to save the children, your loving and loyal pet chimp Bubbles is around and willing to lend a helping hand. “How could a chimp help me battle evil henchmen?” you ask. Well, by transforming you into a giant robot that shoots laser beams from it arms of course. The children are going to love you so much for saving them, and in such style to boot. Gollie Michael, you’re the best!
